NUDGEE WATERHOLE RESERVE

Public BBQ

Nudgee Waterhole Reserve offers a compact but rewarding nature experience beside the Gateway Motorway. Recent upgrades include a shelter with double gas BBQ and drinking fountain, enhancing this wetland sanctuary. Raised boardwalks and gravel paths wind through remnant vegetation, featuring interpretive signs about First Nations cultural significance. The reserve teems with wildlife—turtles, eels, and waterbirds inhabit the central pond while bush turkeys roam the grounds. Easy trails suit all abilities including wheelchairs, connecting wetlands, bushland, and cultural areas. Despite highway noise and lack of toilets, this hidden gem provides peaceful walks and cycling routes. The small car park accommodates about 10 vehicles, serving as a popular meeting point for Boondall Wetlands adventures.
